Contest II...Not For the Weak!

I am completely and utterly exhausted. More specifically the Highland Games/Scottish Festival completely wore me out. It rained and rained and rained. Sideways rain. Pounding rain. Thundery rain. Squishy shoes rain. Rain that sorted out the real men (and women!). And it was no surprise that real men DO wear kilts. Guess who wimped out first once the rainstorms hit? No lie...the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The pipe bands? They kept right on piping. They even played Star Wars. Pure dead brilliant.

So as a salute to the Scots and others who are not afraid of a little rain, I am offering up another contest~tasty British Isles treats from my kitchen!

Here's your choices:
Butter Shortbread Fingers
Chocolate Shortbread Fingers
Strawberry Coconut Shortbread Cookies
Double Gingered Molasses Cookies (hands down favorite of everyone at the festival)
Lemon or Lime Curd
Scottish Tablet
English Toffee (with or without chocolate and/or almonds)
Gingerbread Caramel Corn

And I might even throw in a wee Scottish trinket...

So how do you win? Share your favorite rain or weather or Scottish related story with us in the comments and then we'll vote for the winner in a poll. You have from now until midnight on Friday, June 19th. I also would be quite excited if you'd sign up to be a follower if you're not one already...I'm a total narcisist like that. :)

Small Print Type Stuff: Obviously if you live far enough away that I have to mail you your prize, I'm gonna have to say no to sending you things like lemon or lime curd or the strawberry shortbread...probably not safe to eat and too messy! I apologize in advance!

A Lovely Sunday Out & About...Without My Brain

I finished up the cake for our winner, Anna Jo, in record time. It was done around 9:30 am, and I didn't need to deliver it until 12:30pm. WIN! I must be getting faster...although ,apparently, not any smarter...my smooth day of cakery was only about to get more interesting.

I carried the cake oh-so-carefully out to my car ~ I even remembered to bring my camera! ~ and once I got there, realized my keys were not in my purse. The car happened to be unlocked, but it was lovely, sunny, 70 degree weather outside, so I could not leave the cream cheese icing out in the heat. I carried the cake all the way back to the house, only to find my stalwart husband had locked me out. I had the 5 year old with me (who desperately needed to get out of the house) so we were outside yelling "Daddy! Daddy!" and banging on the door. It took a few minutes to locate my dumb keys, which for some inexplicable reason I left on the kitchen counter. Derrr hey!

Road construction made me miss the exit to her house because I didn't see it until it was far too late to turn off, so I had to drive to the next exit and figure out my way down to her house through suburbia. Suburbia which was full of crazy speed bumps (!!!) and a very scary/intriguing dog fight. Did I also mention that once I got to her street I totally missed her house and had to turn around? Yeah...

The good news is, the cake survived! I apologize for my crappy photography skills...I'm not great with a camera and the pictures came out all shadowy. It was so darn sunny, I couldn't really see my screen. *sigh* Oh well!

Lovely Anna Jo
with her cake

Anna Jo and her adorable husband were thrilled. Especially her husband who is a big fan of the red velvet cake she picked out. He was even sneaking the extra "in case of damage" chocolate robin eggs I brought along while we were taking these pictures. Next time I will bring more chocolate eggs. :)

Stay tuned...there may be more contests in the future!

Contest!

See how I've added that cute little "follower" feature on the side? Now you can follow my blog. People rarely leave me comments, which makes me wonder if anyone out there is reading besides my Mom...

So, I've decided to have a follower contest! It's fairly simple to enter...1) join my follower's list and then 2)send me a comment.

Easy Peasy! :)

Now, I suppose you're wondering what you can win?

If you live in Utah, I will personally deliver a handmade easter cake to you sometime around the Easter holiday (we can work out a day and time) so you can take it to celebrations. Or you can just get out a fork and eat it all yourself...

I will let you choose from a Coconut Layer Cake, Southern Red Velvet (both with cream cheese frosting) or a Lemon Bunny Cake with or without raspberry filling.

If you don't live in Utah, I will send you something delicious that I can mail. Like caramel corn, ginger cookies, or divinity. I'll let you choose from an assortment.

This is all just for fun, but mostly so I can see who is out there. I'd love to know more about my audience. Invite your family and friends to come visit me too!

The contest runs from today, March 26th, to Sunday April 5th at midnight. Go forth and follow!
